Mt. Myogi, located within Myogi-Arafune-Saku Kogen Quasi-National Park on the border of Gunma and Nagano prefectures, is famous for its dramatic rock formations shaped by erosion over countless years. Known as one of Japan’s three most remarkable scenic landscapes, the mountain also has a long history as a place of worship.

The Mt. Myogi Chukando Trail and Stone Gates Route begins at Nakanotake Shrine, known for its association with good relationships and matchmaking.

The trail passes through the First Stone Gate before reaching the Second Stone Gate, where hikers encounter a section equipped with chains. It then continues past the Third and Fourth Stone Gates, a chain-assisted stairway, Taruwaki Falls, and the First Viewpoint before reaching Myogi Shrine.
