Known as Megane Bridge, the Usui No. 3 Bridge is Japan’s largest brick arch bridge. The impressive four-arch structure measures 91 meters long and 31 meters high.

Completed in 1892, the bridge once carried trains over the steep Usui Pass as part of the Abt rack railway. The line was closed in 1963 when a new route opened. The bridge was designated an Important Cultural Property of Japan in 1993, and in 2001 the former railway line was transformed into the Abt Road, a walking trail that allows visitors to walk across the historic bridge.

Nearby, the Usui Pass Railway Heritage Park offers a hands-on look at the area’s railway history. Visitors can explore railway exhibits, see steam and electric locomotives up close, enjoy model trains, and experience railway attractions. Opened in 1999, the park was designed around the idea of seeing, touching, and experiencing railway history.

A sightseeing trolley train also runs between the Railway Heritage Park and Toge-no-Yu along a route parallel to the Abt Road, making the area popular with families and railway enthusiasts alike.
