Shimonita Hydrangea Garden

Located in the Mayama area, the eastern gateway to Shimonita, this beautiful garden was created and is cared for by a local group dedicated to growing hydrangeas. The garden covers approximately three hectares of river terrace formed over time by the uplifting of the land and erosion by the Kabura River. Around 20,000 hydrangeas and 1,200 crape myrtle trees are planted throughout the grounds. Visitors can enjoy colorful hydrangeas while taking in panoramic views of the distinctive mountains of western Gunma.
